Brisbane to Sydney to San Francisco - Day 1

Note: I do the Blog so that I can remember our trips and all the details. Please don't feel that you have to read them all, they are really just for our benefit 😀

Well, finally we are off on our trip. After standing up from a chair and getting severe back pain whilst in New Zealand at Easter, I have had nerve blocks, facet joint blocks, CT, MRI, bone scans and the 3 x surgeries of Radiofrequency Neurotomy (facet joints and both Sacro-iliac joints). Whilst I am not 100% fit I am hoping to be able to enjoy some golf on this trip - it has been a long and painful journey to get this far so keeping fingers crossed 🤞🤞.

A storm rolled into Brisbane airport so it was pouring when we left. Our flight was delayed 15 mins (incoming flight from Hamilton Island was late). Plenty of time to transit from Domestic to International, express pass through Passport control was helpful!!

We were lucky enough to be flying Business Class (with 3 joint replacements and a bad back I think that is fair!!). The flight left at 2155hrs - Dreamliner 787-9 with Qantas - wonderful aircraft.

Everyone gets changed before takeoff into their Qantas PJ's.

Great flight, dinner was served quickly after takeoff then everyone settled down for some sleep. I watched a couple of movies in between naps

We arrived about 6pm Thursday (4 hours before we took off!!). Stood in a huge queue for US Immigration then on the air train to the hire car pick-up.

Scary moment leaving the airport, accidentally turned straight into oncoming traffic - missed the slip lane!! A truck and car were heading straight for us. Sean managed a very quick u-turn and we were back on track........ minor heart attack, all safe.

Checked into hotel, a much awaited shower and then to bed. Neither of us sleep that well, but that is just the jet lag.
Today was a shopping day, we drove out to Livermore & Dublin (we have been out there before), went to the Premium Outlets, then the PGA Superstore, Dicks Sporting Goods & Golf Galaxy - and a few other stops. The shopping is certainly not as good as it used to be and we came home with a small amount compared to our previous shopping excursions..... however there is a long way to go yet, lots of  great golf course to buy from 😜
A couple of hours R & R at the hotel this arvo before heading out again for the evening.

Did a bit more shopping then headed for sunset at the Golden Gate Bridge - we have been here before so really didn't need to, but who can resist..... 🌉

Stopped and had a nice Vietnamese meal on the way home. Watching Baseball now before bed. Tomorrow is Golf at Harding Park GC
