Harding Park to Redding - Day 2
We both slept well, jet lag banished - yeah :-)
Drove to TPC Harding Park, there is sadly a huge problem in San Francisco with theft, drugs, crimes etc.. We had read that as it was a Public Course not to leave anything in our car, so we took our back packs with Tech etc.. in with us. The guy then said that even if we had suitcase in the boot to bring them in and they would store them down stairs for us - apparently the crims drive up, get out, smash a window, raid the car and drive off!!
I have to say that San Francisco is not a place I would like to stay again. There are homeless everywhere and the crims really have taken over. The roads are appalling - so rough and the rubbish and debris on the sides of all the highways is disgusting - you could employ an army of 1000 people and it would take them a year to clean it all up.
There are 2 other things that I had forgotten about the USA that are a little different - the indicator lights on their cars are red (not orange), just like the brake lights, so it is sometimes hard to see them (if they bother to use them at all!!) and the other thing is the self flush toilets. As you stand up the toilet automatically flushes, great idea, but scared the you know what out of me the first time it happened 😆
Back to TPC Harding Park.... we checked in, had a small breakfast and then headed out. It was cart path only today so a lot of walking, up and down hills.
Swinging a golf club again felt a little weird but my back held up for the most part. Wearing the SIJ belt really helps. I did have a birdie chance the 8th, but missed the putt !!

Sean played very steady golf, he ended with 34 points. I missed out scoring on a few holes on the back 9 so certainly didn't score well, but it was great to get through the 18 holes with only minimal discomfort.
Great course, the rough was very punishing. Only 47 bunkers on the whole course so they didn't really come into play much, but when they did they had compact sand and were easy to get out of.
A few years ago we were lucky enough to play The Olympic Club, we could see TPC Harding Park across the lake from there. Today, in reverse, we could see the Olympic Club across the lake 🏌

The last 5 holes were the best on the course. You play the inside of the course 1-9 and the outside 10-18. Great views along the lake, dragon boats, kayaks, joggers, walkers - a very popular sporting playground.

The San Francisco Marine Layer was down today so it was overcast for most of the round, about 18-20 degree's. Warmed up considerably when the sun came out. Very pleasant golfing weather. We had a quick bite to eat after then headed up the highway to Redding (1/3 of the way to Bandon Dunes).

One of the highways was closed for roadworks so we did hit a bit of traffic but otherwise a good trip through he country side, almond tree's everywhere!!
Arrived in Redding about 7:30pm and it was 38 degree's - dry heat. Straight to dinner - Kobe Steak and Seafood. Nice meal, back to room for shower and bed.
